JAKARTA – The OpenAI technology company is testing a number of new features for the ChatGPT application on Android devices. One of the main features being developed is a persistent memory system that allows the application to remember the user’s last position, even after the application is closed or stopped suddenly.
This feature was found in an in-depth analysis of the 1.2026.062 version of the application conducted by the Android Authority technology media.
With this persistent memory, ChatGPT is expected to remember exactly the last part of the user’s conversation or activity. This means that when the application is closed due to the limitations of the mobile phone’s memory or when the user switches applications, ChatGPT can immediately bring the user back to the last point without having to search for the conversation again.
This feature is said to go beyond the previously existing memory function, which only stores facts about users. This new system will make applications more “state-aware”, or able to understand the condition of the user’s last activity.
In addition to the increase in the memory system, this update also brings major changes to the image editing interface within the application.
The development version shows a more prominent “Edit” button. When pressed, users will see a variety of new editing tools such as an annotation feature to mark certain parts of the image, a selection tool to select the area to be changed, and a resize feature that allows users to easily change the image ratio.
This resize feature makes it easier for users to prepare images for various needs such as social media uploads or professional documents.
OpenAI also seems to be experimenting with ways to make user profiles feel more personal. In the development version of the app, researchers found a new option called “Fun facts” in the user profile.
The feature is not fully functional yet, but it is suspected that it will allow ChatGPT to…
