A new technology partnership is bringing industry-grade digital screens into the classroom.

The University of Chichester has teamed up with Creative Technology Ltd to install an 8-metre by 3.5-metre LED wall at its campus, giving students direct access to state-of-the-art digital display technology used in film, gaming and live events.

Creative Technology, based in Crawley, loaned and installed the modular LED screen, which has been used at major live events and is now being used to support teaching and student projects.

Michael Holley, head of the School of Creative and Cultural Industries, said: “We’ve already been teaching with it, and the scale is really special.

“It fits perfectly with our unique facilities and enhances our commitment to developing students’ technical skills, especially around Virtual Production.

“This is exactly the kind of technology our students will come across if they go on to work at the highest levels of the industry.”

The technology has also been used for esports events, where it displays branding, commentary and live scores.

Tom Burford, director of technical delivery at Creative Technology Ltd, said: “Creative Technology has had a long-standing relationship with the University of Chichester, and it’s always a pleasure to collaborate with them.
