As the corporate value of Anthropic, which provides generative artificial intelligence (AI) “Claude” services, soared, seven co-founders were ranked among the world’s 500 richest people at once.

Anthropic’s corporate value was valued at $965 billion (about 1,440 trillion won) in the recent Series H investment round. As a result, Bloomberg reported on the 29th (local time) that the stake value of seven co-founders, including CEO Dario Amodei and his younger brother Daniela Amodei, has reached $8 billion (about 12 trillion won) per person. This is more than double the $3.5 billion valuation of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s assets.

These co-founders, all from OpenAI, will join the ranks of the world’s 500 richest people in the ‘Bloomberg Billionaires Index’. CEO Amodei, who worked as a vice president of research at OpenAI, resigned after deciding that he would put AI safety research on the back burner and only pursue commercialization after the company formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft (MS). Since then, he has gathered his manpower and started Ansropic in 2021.

“It’s extremely counterproductive to argue over other people’s visions,” Amodei CEO said in a podcast interview. “I decided to start a business with the idea of ‘let’s achieve our vision with someone we can trust.” In particular, they pledged to return 80% of their wealth to society to combat economic inequality and concentration caused by AI.

“What should be concerned about is the concentration of wealth that collapses society,” Amodei said in a personal blog post earlier this year. “Those at the forefront of the AI economic craze should be willing to give up their wealth and power.”
