Independent MRO company Dornier Technology has significantly expanded its hangar capacity at Clark International Airport in the Philippines.

The company says it is growing its footprint to four hangars and over a hectare of base maintenance space, and is well-placed to serve carriers across Southeast and Northeast Asia.

According to Dornier Technology, MRO slots across the region continues to outpace supply and airlines and lessors are increasingly locking in long-term maintenance partnerships. The company is pursuing partnerships with low-fare airlines from Cambodia, Myanmar, Japan, and South Korea and working towards additional certifications, including CAAV, CAAC, EASA (targeted 2027), and others.

Full aircraft painting capability for narrowbody and ATR aircraft is now possible at the facility. Dornier Technology CEO Nick Gitsis says aircraft lessors repositioning aircraft between operators frequently struggle to find an MRO company capable of doing the airframe heavy maintenance check and a full repaint. Dornier Technology is well-placed tooffer a comprehensive one-stop maintenance and painting package.

Gitsis said: “We see opportunity particularly among low-cost carriers in Southeast Asia as well as from airlines in Northeast Asia, where labour shortages are most acute.”
