Apple and Meta are speeding up the introduction of external artificial intelligence (AI) technology and development of AI agents. The two companies, which were evaluated as lagging behind by giving the initiative to OpenAI and Google in the early stages of the competition for Generative AI, are fighting back in the AI market with their platforms and service ecosystems.

According to Bloomberg on the 5th (local time), Apple is pushing for a plan to allow users to select and use various external AI models from iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and MacOS 27, which are scheduled to be released this fall. Until now, Apple’s AI function has been limitedly linked to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but in the future, users will be able to select the AI service they want from the setting menu and use it for text creation or image creation.
