It’s no secret that Samsung is working on Android 17-based One UI 9 to bring a fresh software experience. The company’s latest Galaxy S26 Ultra has been spotted running this upcoming build on Geekbench. This suggests that development is progressing at a solid pace while moving closer to the beta testing stage.
Galaxy S26 Ultra benchmark confirms progress of One UI 9 development
Last month, Samsung listed the first One UI 9 test build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra on its servers. This suggested that the company had begun internal testing of the new software. Now, it looks like development has reached the next stage, as engineers appear to be testing performance and stability using the popular benchmarking tool Geekbench.
The listing shows Galaxy S26 Ultra’s single-core score of 3608 and a multi-core score of 10829. These figures are very close to benchmark results of the same device running stable Android 16 (One UI 8.5). This suggests the One UI 9 build is stable enough for public testing. In other words, the beta program may not be far away.
Samsung is expected to debut the stable One UI 9 alongside its next-gen foldable devices, reportedly on July 22. However, the company could still kick off the beta program earlier with its latest flagship devices. Meanwhile, the upcoming Galaxy S26 FE was recently spotted on Geekbench running Android 17, suggesting it could ship with the next-gen software out of the box.
For now, all eyes are on the stable rollout of One UI 8.5 for older Galaxy models. The company shipped the final version with the newly released Galaxy S26 series. In recent weeks, Samsung expanded the One UI 8.5 beta to a bunch of Galaxy devices.
