A driver was hospitalized after a severe crash in Hartselle, swiftly attended by first responders due to an iPhone crash alert, Flint City Fire & Rescue reports.
HARTSELLE, Ala. — A driver was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a crash in Hartselle. First responders were alerted quickly thanks to an automated iPhone crash notification.
Flint City Fire & Rescue said around 5:45 a.m., their units were dispatched to the 2000 block of Indian Hills Road NE following the alert, which indicated a severe collision. While units were en route, additional information confirmed that a person was trapped inside the vehicle, with a possible ejection reported. Mutual aid crews were automatically called due to the severity of the incident.
When firefighters from Flint City and Hartselle Fire & Rescue arrived, they found a Honda CR-V that had left the roadway and collided with a tree. Crews worked together to safely extricate the sole occupant, who was taken to a regional hospital for treatment.
Flint units remained on scene to assist with traffic control until the vehicle was removed. Officials thanked mutual aid partners, including Hartselle Fire, Decatur-Morgan EMS, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, City of Hartselle Police, Morgan County 911, and ALEA, for their quick response.
