Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone, widely tipped to be called the iPhone Ultra, in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. No delays for the iPhone Ultra
According to a report from Cailian News, citing multiple supply chain sources, the iPhone Ultra is expected to launch on schedule without any delays. The report claims the device has reached the mass production stage and that deliveries for a September release are proceeding as planned.
The report contradicts a recent post by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on X. Kuo had predicted that Apple would follow a launch strategy for the iPhone Ultra similar to that of the iPhone X, which debuted in 2017 with a major redesign featuring an OLED display and significantly slimmer bezels.
According to the analyst, the iPhone Ultra is expected to introduce technological advancements of a similar scale, potentially leading to limited initial availability. Based on an industry survey, Kuo said Apple is likely to unveil the foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, but it may not be available for pre-orders or retail sales until the fourth quarter of 2026.
Kuo also noted that the iPhone Ultra could face constrained early production due to “manufacturing challenges.” Apple is reportedly expected to ship between 500,000 and 1 million units of its first book-style foldable during the third quarter of 2026, accounting for roughly 10 percent of total shipments.
