According to WSJ’s report, SpaceX showed a handset-like prototype to investors and stakeholders before its massive IPO. The device reportedly runs on a proprietary operating system, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, and connects deeply with xAI technology.

That setup sounds less like “just another phone” and more like an AI-first device. Think less iPhone clone, more pocket-sized AI interface.

The interesting part isn’t only the hardware. It’s the stack behind it.

SpaceX has Starlink for connectivity. Musk has X for social distribution. xAI has Grok for the AI layer. Put those pieces together and you can see why investors might care about a device that ties them all into one product.

But there’s a big caveat.

Musk has denied the report. The Verge says he called it “utterly false” on X, while also noting that he has previously disliked the idea of building a phone.
