The System76 Lemur Pro initially launched back in 2020, and the company has continued to iterate on this compact little powerhouse over the past few years. This year’s refresh brings some big updates to this lightweight Linux laptop, including newer Intel CPU architectures, a variety of displays, and better battery life than before.
Starting with the most important internal upgrade for the 2026 version of the Lemur Pro, the laptops now feature Intel’s newest Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) CPUs. These include the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor with Intel Graphics as well as an upgraded version featuring the new Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor — which comes with 16 total cores and a new Intel Arc B390 GPU inside. According to System76, these new Arc B390 GPUs provide double the graphical performance compared to last-gen models.
Both the standard and high-end versions come equipped with plenty of RAM, too: the systems feature 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at speeds of 7467 MT/s, as well as a PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 slot that can fit up to 4TB worth of NVMe drives onboard.
This also marks the first time that you’ve had a choice when selecting your display size since the launch of the Lemur Pro series. Weighing only 2.2lbs, both models feature the standard ultraportable dimensions, but with either a 1920×1200 FHD+ display (on the 14-inch) or the newer, larger, higher resolution 2560×1600 QHD+/2k display (on the 16-inch). That’s accompanied by a massive increase in screen real-estate and while still being highly portable itself at just 2.96lbs. Both come with displays sporting a 16:10 aspect ratio as well as a matte finish to combat any unnecessary glare.
The power efficiencies offered by Panther Lake allow the team here at System76 to claim this is the longest battery life on any laptop that they’ve ever built. Both versions ship with a 73Wh battery, and the company estimates that it will provide up to 18 hours of continuous operation before…
