If you’re on the beta track, you’re going to be happy to know that a new release has just dropped, with QPR1 Beta 6 arriving on compatible Pixel phones. Perhaps one of the biggest pieces of news from this release is that Android 17 QPR1 has reached platform stability, meaning that developers will now be able to make updates to their app with certainty that it won’t break with the public release.
In addition, developers can “now incorporate new Android 17 QPR1 capabilities” into their apps as well. So far, QPR1 is turning out to be a solid release, with plenty of great features. Most recently, it was discovered that Pixel phones would be getting a background shuffle feature.
We can’t wait until this gets a public release
Furthermore, Google has shared that some bugs have been fixed with this new release:
- Users were unable to select multiple spell checker languages. (Issue #147312111)
- Pressing the device volume buttons within the Clock app failed to trigger the expected user interface actions. (Issue #527400457, Issue #527395501, Issue #524895625)
- Rapidly swiping through the media carousel caused visual glitches in the Quick Settings layout and settings icon by improving animation and layout state handling during rapid transitions. (Issue #514947195)
- An issue in WindowManagerGlobal that resulted in app crashes. (Issue #516639947)
