New Delhi, June 26(APAC Media): Artificial intelligence is creating new cybersecurity challenges, and US-based startup Chainguard is responding by expanding its presence in India. The company, valued at $3.5 billion, plans to increase hiring across engineering, product development and customer-facing roles as demand for software supply chain security grows.

AI Security Drives India Expansion

Chainguard currently employs around 20 people in India across engineering, operations and partnerships. CEO and co-founder Dan Lorenc said the company will continue hiring while balancing workforce growth with AI-driven automation. Its engineering teams in India already contribute to core product development, with technologies built here being used by customers worldwide.

The company is also expanding its sales, pre-sales, solutions architecture and partner teams as it strengthens its presence in the Indian enterprise market.

Focus On GCCs And Enterprise Customers

Chainguard sees India’s growing network of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as a major opportunity, with multinational companies increasingly building AI and software engineering operations in the country. It has partnered with IT services firms including TCS, Infosys, HCLTech, LTIMindtree and Persistent, while integrating its platform with AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

Globally, Chainguard serves customers such as OpenAI, Canva and Cloudera. Its Indian clients include Slice Bank, Amagi and Fyno.

The expansion comes after the company raised fresh capital earlier this year, taking its total funding to $892 million and its valuation to $3.5 billion. While Chainguard did not disclose plans for an IPO or fresh fundraising, it recently launched Athena, a new industry coalition focused on improving open-source software security against AI-driven cyber threats.
