Apple pushed out iOS 27’s second developer beta yesterday, and YouTuber zollotech has already put together a full breakdown of what’s new. The update lands as a pretty hefty 10.58 GB download on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. From early testing, the focus this round seems to be mostly under the hood. Animations feel noticeably smoother, things process faster overall, and there’s a new modem update aimed at fixing the cellular dropout issues some testers were running into with the first beta. Here’s what’s actually changed in beta 2:
- Siri gets quicker and a bit more visible: Follow-up questions process faster, and there’s now a persistent mic indicator on the lock screen during calls.
- Visual Intelligence can skip the prompts: A new toggle lets you enable automatic third-party image searches on photo subjects without approving each search individually.
- Writing Tools show up more in the keyboard: Notes now has built-in “Proofread” and “Rewrite” suggestions, plus a prompt to write text using Siri.
- RCS encryption is back: End-to-end encryption for RCS messages, which got pulled in beta 1, is restored, and inline replies actually work now too.
- Wallet does more: You can link outside bank accounts right in Wallet to track balances, recurring charges, and spending patterns.
- More pass customization: The manual pass creator now has textured background options alongside the usual solid colours.
- New Home app intro screen: A redesigned onboarding flow that shows off updated tracking for smart plugs, thermostats, and automated accessories.
- On-device dictation preview: If you’ve got a device with 12GB of RAM, you get early access to a faster, more accurate on-device dictation engine.
This is still early days for iOS 27, with new developer builds expected roughly every two weeks through the summer. The public release should land in the fall, alongside the next iPhone lineup, as usual. The public betas are set to debut in July sometime. For the full visual…
