The iPhone Air 2 could debut next year as the successor to Apple’s slim iPhone Air. A series of recent leaks and rumours have shed light on the device, revealing its reported codename, possible launch timeline, and key hardware upgrades. The latest reports suggest the handset may feature a dual rear camera setup and could arrive with a less powerful chipset than other models in the iPhone 18 lineup.
According to a post on Naver by a Korean tipster, the iPhone Air 2 will feature a dual-camera system with 48-megapixel sensors. If accurate, this would mark a significant upgrade over the current-generation iPhone Air, which offers a single 48-megapixel rear camera.

Another leak suggests the iPhone Air 2 will be powered by Apple’s standard A20 chip rather than the more powerful A20 Pro expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra. The A20 chip is believed to be built using TSMC’s next-generation 2nm manufacturing process.
The standard iPhone 18 is also expected to use the A20 chip. This would represent a departure from last year’s strategy, when Apple equipped the iPhone Air with the same A19 Pro processor found in the iPhone 17 Pro models. The move is believed to be linked to rising component and manufacturing costs, with Apple potentially seeking to balance performance and production expenses as it transitions to advanced 2nm chip technology.
