Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro is shaping up to be a performance powerhouse disguised as an incremental upgrade. The flagship phones, arriving September 2026, will feature the A20 chip built on TSMC’s advanced 2-nanometre process, marking a generational leap in speed and efficiency that Apple insists it’s not charging extra for.
A20 is rumoured to offer 15% more speed and 30% better efficiency than the current A19 series, but industry experts expect Apple to maintain its price point at $1,099 for the 6.3-inch Pro model and $1,199 for the 6.9-inch Pro Max variant.

Changes in design are expected to be minor, with the same screen sizes, slightly heavier construction, and reduced size of Dynamic Island (possibly 35% smaller). Reportedly, major changes are in the camera unit, with Apple developing an adjustable aperture on its primary camera. This will allow users to manually control the amount of light entering the sensor, eliminating overexposure issues and giving more flexibility in creation.
The telephoto and wide-angle lenses may have improved aperture, as well. A new three-layer stacked image sensor produced by Samsung can bring improvements in latency, reduce noise, and increase dynamic range.
LTPO+ display technology will be implemented into displays, and battery pads will become larger, with the battery capacity of iPhone 18 Pro reaching 4,288 mAh from 4,252 mAh.
