BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Bluefield State University is launching a new master’s degree, the first in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) discipline.
Approval for the 30-credit-hour Master of Science in Engineering Technology degree program has been approved by the state Higher Education Policy Commission and will be offered starting in fall 2026.
The program was developed after employer feedback and labor market predictions show job growth in STEM occupations.
BSU President Darrin Martin said that as technology continues to transform every sector of the economy, Bluefield State is preparing professionals who can lead that transformation.
“Employers are seeking professionals who possess advanced technical expertise and the leadership skills to manage projects, teams and emerging technologies. The MSET program was designed to meet that demand while offering the flexibility today’s students and working professionals require,” Martin said.
BSU also offers a master’s degree program in business administration.
