iOS 27 Announced for iPhone & iPad, with New Siri AI, Performance Improvements

Apple has announced the next major version of system software for iPhone, versioned as iOS 27, along with iPadOS 27 for iPad.

iOS 27 includes a variety of new features, but also has a heavy focus on performance, optimization, and general improvements to the operating system for iPhone and iPad. You’ll also find subtle refinements to the Liquid Glass interface, some apps have been redesigned, and there are plenty of new AI based features including a dedicated Siri AI app, if you have an iPhone or iPad compatible with all the AI features anyway.

iOS 27 features

Apple is emphasizing performance improvements to iOS 27, along with their operating system suite including MacOS Golden Gate 27. You’ll find better memory management, improved battery life, and better CPU utilization.

Feature wise, many of the new iOS 27 features are based around Siri and Apple Intelligence. Siri now has a dedicated app, and it also has tons of contextual features for things that are on screen, and you can talk to Siri with more natural language than before. Yes we have seen Apple promise many Siri improvements in the past, so it’s understandable if you’re not sold on the promise of the new features. Plus it’s likely that many of the newest Siri AI features will be limited to the latest model iPhone devices, though we’ll find out more about those limits soon.

iOS 27 also includes improvements to parental controls to improve the experience of using an iPhone or iPad with kids, with features like time allowances, schedules for apps, approval requests to visit web pages, and more.

The Liquid Glass interface also gets refined, and there is a slider available to adjust the intensity of Liquid Glass.

All of these features are available for iOS 27 for iPhone, and iPadOS 27 for iPad.
