WASHINGTON—Today, the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade will hold a hearing on the SECURE Data Act, an encouraging step to advance a thorough, nationwide framework for safeguarding data privacy in the United States.

The SECURE Data Act is commendable because it establishes a consistent nationwide standard that eliminates regulatory confusion, strengthens consumer rights and ensures data transparency.
