After years of Google trying to catch up and drawing inspiration from Samsung DeX, I can say the new tool is more than a glorified iteration patched together for native support.

Desktop Mode is fully baked and functional. Google polished and improved it by adding its own unique enhancements.

Like the newly launched Googlebook, the launch of Desktop Mode is part of Google’s push to make Android a viable desktop operating system. Google clearly wants to compete with the established Windows and Mac platforms.

While both serve as a bridge between mobile and PC, the Googlebook appears to be aimed at the premium segment based on the initial details, whereas Desktop Mode should cater to more mainstream and casual users.

Desktop Mode also offers major portability and the right balance, turning a pocketable device into a PC-like setup when you connect a monitor and peripherals.

I have been testing the software for quite some time. Here are the things that made my experience with Desktop Mode much more productive.
