A House panel on Friday unveiled witnesses for a hearing next week reviewing major legislation that would create a national data privacy standard to replace a slew of state-level laws.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s panel on commerce, manufacturing, and trade on Wednesday will examine the bill, the SECURE Data Act (H.R. 8413), which Republicans released last month. The proposal would give Americans federal protections over their personal data for the first time.
