JAKARTA – BYD revealed that its driving assistance system has now been used in more than 60 vehicle models with a total of nearly 3 million units. The Chinese manufacturer claims that the feature reduces the number of accidents.
As reported by Autohome, Monday, May 25, the rate of serious accidents in vehicles using the system fell by as much as a sixth compared to human drivers. This is based on the number of airbag triggering incidents per 10 million kilometers.
The data was presented by Senior Vice President of BYD Group and Head of the New Automotive Technology Research Institute, Yang Dongsheng, at the 13th Annual Conference on Smart Connected Vehicle Technology in Shanghai on May 21.
Yang explained that BYD has started to expand the application of intelligent driving technology since the beginning of 2025. Currently, almost all of the company’s passenger car lines are equipped with L2 level driving assistance systems.
In his presentation, it was mentioned that the activation level of the navigation assistance system had exceeded 50 percent, while the use of parking assistance features reached 86 percent. BYD also claims that scratches and minor collisions during parking have dropped to about one-fiftieth compared to human drivers thanks to their parking assistance technology.
The company refers to the “God’s Eye” intelligent driving system and the parking assistance guarantee program introduced in July 2025. The statement comes ahead of BYD’s intelligent driving strategy agenda on May 28, which sparked industry speculation regarding the wider launch of the latest version of the God’s Eye system and the integration of the technology into more vehicles.
According to Yang, one of the main factors behind the integration capability comes from BYD’s Xuanji architecture, which combines electrification systems and electronic architecture into a single integrated vehicle platform.
