The latest Linux gaming handheld driver work by Derek Clark of Valve’s Linux efforts is the OneXPlayer Configuration Driver that is now set to premiere in the upcoming Linux 7.2 kernel cycle.
This new OneXPlayer Configuration Driver “hid-oxp” was originally covered on Phoronix back in March but has now worked its way to a HID subsystem branch ahead of the Linux 7.2 merge window in June. This driver among other features enables support for RGB lighting controls, vibration intensity attribute, and hardware-level button mapping interface. The OneXPlayer RGB lighting controls include attributes for brightness, multi-intensity, effects, toggling on/off, and the speed for effects.
This new driver, which is GPLv2+ and copyrighted by Valve Corporation, is now in hid.git’s for-7.2/oxp Git branch and also queued in turn in the HID’s “for-next” Git branch.
So if you are using a OneXPlayer gaming handheld with Linux, look forward to this new configuration driver coming in Linux 7.2.
