Apple is expected to launch a redesigned version of Siri later this year, powered in part by Google’s Gemini AI models through a reported partnership between the two companies. The upgrade could position Siri as a stronger competitor to AI chatbots such as ChatGPT by introducing more advanced conversational and intelligent features. Despite the push into generative AI, reports suggest Apple will continue prioritising privacy by offering features like automatic deletion of AI chat histories to give users more control over their data.

The privacy-focused feature is expected to work similarly to message retention settings already available in Apple’s Messages app, giving users greater control over how long their AI interactions remain saved.

Unlike the current version of Siri, which mainly handles basic assistant tasks, the redesigned platform is expected to support continuous conversations and more advanced interactions. The addition of chat history management also reflects a growing trend among AI companies to balance personalised responses with stronger privacy options, including incognito-style chat modes.
