Apple has agreed to a proposed $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of misleading consumers about the rollout of its AI-powered Siri features tied to Apple Intelligence.
The lawsuit centered around Apple’s marketing campaign for enhanced Siri capabilities introduced during WWDC 2024 and promoted alongside the iPhone 16 launch. Plaintiffs alleged that Apple advertised AI features that were either delayed or unavailable at the time devices were sold.
According to court filings, eligible U.S. customers who purchased qualifying iPhone models between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 may receive compensation if the settlement receives final approval.
Which iPhone Users Could Qualify?
The proposed settlement reportedly covers:
- All iPhone 16 models
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Multiple reports state that eligible users could receive payments ranging from approximately $25 to as much as $95 per device, depending on the total number of claims submitted.
The settlement could impact roughly 36–37 million devices sold in the United States.

The lawsuit focused heavily on Apple Intelligence marketing tied to a more “personalized” version of Siri that Apple showcased during its 2024 developer conference. Plaintiffs argued the company created the impression that the upgraded AI features would be available at launch, despite many capabilities being delayed well beyond the iPhone release window.
According to Reuters, Apple denied wrongdoing as part of the settlement but stated the company chose to resolve the matter to remain focused on innovation and future product development.
The Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division also reportedly concluded that some Apple marketing materials created confusion regarding the availability of Siri’s upgraded AI functionality.
