PORTLAND, Ore. — This story comes from the Portland Business Journal, a KGW News partner. The full story is here.

Nike plans to bring some of its technology operations to Portland while closing offices in Atlanta, China and Poland, according to the Oregonian.

“We’re reshaping our Technology team to sharpen alignment with the business, build leaner teams, and accelerate what matters most,” the Oregonian quoted Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy saying in a message to employees.

Nike’s Atlanta technology innovation center dates to 2022, when it announced it had targeted the city for a major expansion. Plans for the office included three “centers of excellence” that would focus on logistics and supply chain, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, a PBJ sibling publication, reported in 2023.

At the time, Nike was pursuing former CEO John Donahoe’s strategy of shifting sales from retail partners to direct online sales.
