Apple agreed to a $250 million class action settlement on May 5, 2026, following allegations that the company misled consumers regarding the availability of artificial intelligence features on the iPhone 16 and specific iPhone 15 models.
The lawsuit, originally filed in March 2025 by California resident Peter Landsheft, claimed Apple advertised “Apple Intelligence” and a revamped Siri as core features during the September 2024 launch despite the technology not being ready for release.
Court filings indicate that eligible U.S. consumers who purchased an iPhone 16 or iPhone 15 Pro series device between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, could receive payments ranging from $25 to $95 per device.
The plaintiffs alleged that the tech giant utilized deceptive marketing to induce millions of purchases for features that did not exist at the time of the product’s debut. Internal records suggest approximately 36 million customers fall within the eligible settlement class.
