I’m not a huge fan of typing on a phone, especially when drafting long pieces for Android Police. But I’m more open to light editing work on a phone, and that pretty much sums up how I use it for work.

However, I don’t feel comfortable editing my work on every Android phone. I prefer the ones with better touch response and have Gboard set as the default keyboard app.

I have set Gboard as the default on both my Android phones, specifically to make my editing work, however little that is, less painful.

Gboard has the best editing features on Android, allowing users to quickly fix typos, jump to another line, undo mistakes like deleting portions of text they never intended to, and more.

Some of these features are perfect, but many of them punch way below their weight. For example, the case switching capability in Gboard has huge potential, but Google has so far underdelivered on it.

While I loved Gboard’s quick case switching functionality each time I used it, I couldn’t help but notice how incomplete it was.
