A pivotal, yet often forgotten, villain in the “Androids Saga” of Dragon Ball Z has finally been revived, thanks to the co-creator of Dragon Ball Super.
In the latest edition of “Toyotarou Drew It” — which is now labeled by episode rather than the month of publication — the official Dragon Ball website revealed Toyotarou’s take on Dr. Gero, the evil scientist responsible for the series’ android outbreak. Dr. Gero created the Red Ribbon Androids to exact his revenge on Goku, who destroyed the Red Ribbon Army as a child in the original Dragon Ball series.
Gero even transformed himself into his own creation, Android 20, and fought alongside Android 19 in what the Z Fighters thought was the threat they’d been training for three years. Unfortunately, Future Trunks’ slight alteration of history significantly changed the robotic nightmare, morphing his timeline into something far worse.
