Medtronic has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Scientia Vascular for $550 million, subject to customary adjustments and potential additional milestone payments. The acquisition will expand Medtronic’s portfolio for treating conditions such as stroke and aneurysms by integrating Scientia’s access technologies with the company’s existing neurovascular product range. These devices are designed to help physicians navigate the complex structure of cerebral blood vessels and reach treatment sites more efficiently during minimally invasive procedures.

Linnea Burman, Senior Vice President and President of Medtronic’s Neurovascular business, stated, “Medtronic is thrilled to acquire Scientia to accelerate meaningful innovation in neurovascular care.” She added that combining the companies’ technologies will support procedures addressing both hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.

CEO of Scientia, Rick Randall, noted, “Scientia has developed critical technology that has been embraced by physicians,” adding that the transaction will help extend its engineering capabilities to more markets through Medtronic’s scale. The deal is expected to close in the first half of Medtronic’s fiscal year 2027, pending regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. It is projected to have minimal impact on adjusted earnings per share in the first year before contributing positively in subsequent periods.
