Hamilton Co. Sheriff’s Office locates missing person using drone technology | Local News

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) located a missing endangered person near Quail Hollow Circle by using drone technology on Monday.
Using the sheriff’s office’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Unit’s thermal drone, deputies quickly located the person.
According to HCSO, the UAS Unit is a critical asset for law enforcement, enabling coverage of large areas and the use of advanced technology to locate missing persons, map crime scenes, and provide vital support during high-risk operations.
“Special teams and equipment, such as our Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit, are vital for the present and future of law enforcement operations. This must have technology saves lives and resources,” Sheriff Austin Garrett said.
