Most of us assume a dead phone is basically invisible, but Apple has a clever trick built in that can keep it on the radar for a while longer.
That means losing your iPhone doesn’t automatically turn into a hopeless scavenger hunt the second the battery hits zero.

The magic happens through Apple’s Find My network, which can help locate supported iPhones even after they’ve been turned off.
Apple says that, on supported models, enabling the Find My network can let you track your iPhone for up to 24 hours after it’s powered off, or up to five hours when it’s in Power Reserve mode.
To make sure it works, you need to set it up before the phone goes missing.

Head to Settings, tap your name, then Find My, then Find My iPhone.
From there, switch on Find My iPhone, Find My network, and Send Last Location.
That last setting is a big one, because it sends your iPhone’s location to Apple automatically when the battery gets critically low.
So even if the phone fully dies, you may still be able to see where it last was before it gave up.
Find your phone even if it is missing
Once the phone is gone, open the Find My app on another Apple device, or use iCloud’s Find Devices page.
You’ll either see its current location, its last known location, or a message saying no location is available just yet.
If you can’t get to it straight away, you can also turn on Lost Mode.
