When Apple Inc. introduced a wave of new hardware earlier this month, it was the $599 MacBook Neo — the company’s cheapest laptop to date — that soaked up most of the attention.
But Apple hit that low price by sacrificing a handful of features that MacBook buyers have come to expect — and shown a willingness to pay extra for. For those who want more, the company also rolled out an upgraded MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M5-series chips, as well as two desk monitors. The new collection is off to a fast start: Apple recorded its “best launch week ever” for first-time Mac buyers, Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said on Friday.
