Apple is seemingly working on a touch-screen MacBook Pro, and if the reports come true, it could shape up to be the biggest Mac redesign ever. According to Mark Gurman on X (@markgurman), the company is actively developing a touch-enabled MacBook Pro, and it is highly anticipated that the product will launch by the end of 2026. Apple is expected to make major changes to the display, similar to what it did with the iPhone 14 Pro. The touchscreen is also expected to operate very differently from traditional ones.

Here’s what we’ve found out so far.

Touch-screen MacBook Pro: Expected specs and features

The most anticipated change to the display is the Dynamic Island, which is expected to feature the same pill-shaped cutout design as the iPhone 14 Pro, replacing the notch entirely. Apple is also reportedly developing a new macOS interface that shifts between touch input and traditional point-and-click depending on the task you are doing. That said, there are also iPad-style gestures like pinch-to-zoom features expected to be included.

As for the display, the rumored change is that the MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED panel on both the 14-inch and 16-inch models. As for the SoC under the hood, multiple rumors suggest the laptop will run on M6 Pro and M6 Max chips built on a 2nm process. The entire chassis is also reportedly getting a full rework and will likely improve the bezels, weight, and aesthetics. With that being said, cellular connectivity is also on the spec sheet, and if that surfaces, it would be a first on any Mac.

Pricing-wise, rumors suggest it could come in higher than current models, and with ongoing RAM and NAND shortages in the market, that’s not hard to believe
