I switched to an iPhone, but I still miss these 5 Android features

After years of using Android as my primary phone, I switched to an iPhone. Some differences were obvious immediately, while others became clear during daily use. Navigating back through menus or adjusting media volume — tasks that used to be instant on Android now take extra effort. Sometimes the option I expected wasn’t there, and other times there was no quick way to do it at all.

These are the Android features I still miss every time I use an iPhone.

The back gesture

One gesture, always consistent

The first difference I noticed was the navigation. On Android, going back quickly is so easy because the system treats it as a universal action. Whether you’re buried deep in a settings menu or moving between screens in an app, the same gesture or button always does the same thing. You don’t have to stop and figure out how to leave a screen — you just go back, and it works.

The iPhone handles this differently, and that inconsistency is what makes it frustrating. The left-edge swipe works in many places, but not everywhere. Some screens have a back arrow in the top corner, others use a Done button, and some use an X. The controls change depending on where you are, so you end up scanning the screen each time just to find your exit. On larger iPhones, those top-corner controls are also just far enough away to make one-handed use awkward.

That inconsistency becomes more noticeable the deeper you go. Android keeps the same back action as you move through layers, taking you back one screen at a time. On iOS, each layer can have its own rules, which breaks the rhythm and forces a small but unnecessary decision every single time.
