BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation Birmingham Field Office has joined forces with the FBI’s Cyber Division and field offices nationwide to launch Operation Winter SHIELD (Securing Homeland Infrastructure by Enhancing Layered Defense), a new initiative focused on strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity defenses amid growing digital threats.
Operation Winter SHIELD is designed to raise awareness of the evolving cyber risk landscape and encourage both the public and private sectors to take practical steps to better secure their networks. The campaign outlines ten actionable measures organizations can implement to enhance protection of critical systems, sensitive data, and national infrastructure. According to the FBI, the recommended steps are based on lessons learned from real-world investigations. The initiative aims to equip American workers, small business owners, and large corporations with guidance to help prevent, detect, and respond to cyber intrusions. “Cybersecurity is not just about protecting systems; it’s about safeguarding people,” said David R.
