These updates, powered by Gemini 3 and unveiled on Wednesday, aim to streamline daily internet interactions through an always-available AI side panel, deeper application integrations, and innovative creative tools.
Central to this evolution is a new browser agent dubbed “auto browse.” This feature is engineered to tackle time-consuming, multi-step online tasks, freeing users from the tedium of navigating multiple tabs, filling out forms, or manually comparing information. Auto browse can perform a range of functions, from researching flights and hotels across various dates to collecting documents, scheduling appointments, managing subscriptions, and even assisting with administrative tasks like renewing a driver’s license or filing expense reports.
During a live demonstration, Product Lead Charmaine D’Silva showcased the new tools by planning a family vacation. The Gemini-powered system efficiently compared destinations and prices across multiple travel sites, cross-referenced school calendars for children’s holidays, and aligned schedules to identify suitable travel windows. However, D’Silva underscored Google’s commitment to human oversight, stating that “the final decision and purchase were still hers,” emphasizing that users retain control over critical actions such as bookings and purchases.
