Salisbury, Md. – Alix Dry trailed 5-2 in the deciding third set and fended off three match points before winning a three-set thriller, lifting the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team to a dramatic 4-3 victory over Salisbury University.

HOW IT HAPPENED

With the match level at three apiece, Dry dropped the opening set 6-2 to Gibelle Beaujon at No. 1 singles. She bounced back with a 7-6 win in the second to force a third set, but quickly fell behind 5-2. Dry battled all the way back, surviving three match points and claiming the final frame 7-6 to seal the win for the Ducks.

Stevens grabbed an early 1-0 advantage after doubles play, with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights. Lorena Piegas and Wei-Wei Lai earned a 6-1 decision at No. 2, while Gigi Arenas and Stephanie Untermeyer blanked their opponents 6-0 at No. 3. Dry and Kaylee Hobbick fell just short at the top spot, dropping a 7-5 decision.
