Man caught with cache of child images found on Macbook Pro tablet

A man found with child sex abuse images has appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court.

Roy Benning, of Church Lane, Ryde, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 27.

The 54-year-old admitted a charge of making an indecent photograph or pseudo‑photograph of a child on May 13, 2021.

The case followed a four‑year investigation by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the court heard.

Police seized Benning’s MacBook Pro tablet, from where 16 indecent images of children were found.

All were classed as Category C — the least severe classification.

Magistrates ordered a pre‑sentence report and granted Benning bail to return to the same venue for sentencing on March 27.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender at Newport Police Station.
