The Proton compatibility layer has helped bring many PC games to Linux, and it’s updated regularly with new features and improvements. Now, Proton 10.0-4 has arrived with 19 new compatible games and a pile of bug fixes.
Proton is based on the Wine open-source project, and Wine 11 was just released with significant performance improvements, better support for Wayland and 64-bit ARM devices, and many more changes. Proton is still using Wine 10 as a foundation, though—we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the upgrade to Wine 11.
Proton 10.0-4 adds several more games to the list of playable titles, all of which were previously functional on Proton Experimental. The full list is below, with a mix of standard PC titles and VR games. Linux gamers can finally do virtual reality medical malpractice in Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality or play through some dungeons in Fellowship.
New playable games in Proton 10.0-4
- Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality
- Changeling VR
- Summoners War: RUSH
- Quantum Threshold
