Summary
- Proton 10.0-4 expands Linux playability – Fellowship and Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality now work.
- Proton Experimental testing paid off, dozens more titles are now officially playable on Linux.
- Includes VR, MMOs, remasters, and indies – a broad boost to the Linux gaming catalog.
Once upon a time, gaming on Linux was a better joke than it was a feasible means of playing your favorite titles. However, over the years, Linux has gotten better and better, and Valve’s adoption of the operating system for its portable console, the Steam Deck, only accelerated things. Now you can get an entire Linux gaming operating system that fed-up Windows 11 users are discovering for the first time.
Unfortunately, as far as Linux has come, there are still some games that don’t work on it. The good news is, unlike the early days, we no longer have to wait for the developers to make their games Linux-friendly. Instead, we can run it through Proton and have it do all the hard work. Now, a new update to the operating system has brought in a new wave of games that have just become Linux playable.
