Fields of Mistria is an Early Access farming simulator set in a magical world. The title is being developed and published by NPC Studio and has received a whopping 20,872 reviews and a 97% Overwhelmingly Positive score at the time of writing.
As the 1.0 release date approaches, the team has been hard at work with updates. In the most recent one, which is non-content with focus on stability, they announced that Fields of Mistria has migrated to a new engine.

In their FAQ, the team mentions that this decision was made because the game had outgrown its original engine and needed a new one to deliver a better experience for players. Now, Fields of Mistria has transitioned to an internally developed one.
While this does mean that the mods that had been made for it will no longer be compatible, NPC Studio made a guide for modders to help them understand the new engine. They also stated,
“We know this transition may temporarily disrupt some players’ mod setups, and we thank everyone for their patience during this process. We’re incredibly grateful for the creativity and hard work of our modding community, and this migration will ultimately provide a stronger foundation for modding, making it easier to create and maintain mods and enabling even more customization possibilities.”
Aside from adding a stronger foundation for modding and the ability for the studio to improve performance, the new engine also helped add support for integrated graphics and fix many longstanding issues. This includes crashes and bugs, such as the JSON Parse Error and Dragon Shrine Error.

Lastly, support for Linux and SteamOS has been added! That means it should run on the Steam Deck with improved performance, and a possible upcoming verification is coming.
Fields of Mistria is available on Steam’s Early Access! Update 1.0 will release on the 5th of August.
