The latest version of Google Chrome is widely rolling out today with a dedicated back button and other small interface tweaks.

Previously, the three-dot menu just offered a forward button in the top row. Version 150 of the Android browser adds a back button as an alternative to using the system back gesture or navigation button.

This has been available on Chrome for iOS for some time. In the desktop browser, you can remove the Forward button by going to Customize Chrome from the New Tab Page > Toolbar > Navigation.

As part of this change, the info button has been removed, and a new “Site controls” item has been added to the ever-growing overflow list. Show Reading mode was the last addition in February.

As such, the Bookmark star and Download button move to the right in an unfortunate disruption to muscle memory.

This change is rolling out with version 150, which became widely available via the Play Store today.

Another small change this release sees “Add to Home screen” become “Install and create shortcut” further down in the menu.
