The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) yesterday said it would hold a feasibility assessment meeting and a public hearing for artificial intelligence (AI) computing centers that would be built, owned and operated by the private sector after receiving applications from three companies.

To ensure the centers remain competitive internationally, the facilities must be equipped with a total computing capacity of no less than 15 petaflops based on 32-bit floating-point (FP32) performance, equivalent to more than 15 quadrillion calculations per second.
This is would also support the development of national AI projects in precision medicine, smart transportation and other fields, the ministry said.
The ministry completed the qualification reviews of the three applicants at the beginning of this month, it said.
