72MW German Utility Project Runs on AIKO’s ABC Technology, Marking Local Shift to Next-Generation Modules

June 1st, 2026

A 72MW utility-scale solar project in Wettin-Lobejün-Merbitz, Germany, has been commissioned and is now generating power. The project brings together AIKO, a pioneer and frontrunner in BC (Back-Contact) technology, with partners including ESG Kraftwerke Wettin GmbH & Co. KG and Bejulo GmbH.
Sven Klosse, Purchasing and Logistics at Bejulo, commented: “German developers face strict qualification requirements, high performance expectations, and a strong focus on delivery security. From the outset,

IKO addressed these with a CEO-level engagement, offering a transparent production roadmap, reliable delivery scheduling, and comprehensive quality assurance. After evaluating multiple suppliers, AIKO’s ABC technology delivered a compelling case, particularly in high efficiency, partial shading optimization and long-term yield. Their commitment to transparent planning gave us confidence in securing the project’s timeline and returns.”

Delivering Performance Under German Market Conditions

With the site now producing, the technical and economic advantages of AIKO’s ABC modules have moved from design to reality. AIKO’s ABC modules, AIKO-G-MCH72Dw (2382×1134×30mm), deliver 24.0% efficiency and a power output of 645/650Wp, achieving 30W more than leading TOPCon products in the same area. Superior partial shading performance ensures stable output even when modules are affected by dust, vegetation, or structural shadows. Low degradation rates (first-year ≤1%, annual 0.35% from year 2 to 30) further support long-term energy yield.

The 110,566 modules are expected to generate 84.94 GWh of annual electricity, translating into total lifecycle revenue of €108.85 million, while avoiding approximately 1.22 million tons of CO₂ emissions each year. AIKO provides a 15-year product warranty and a 30-year power warranty.
