Two days after its introduction the MacBook Neo seized the coveted top selling laptop slot on Amazon. Six weeks later, it’s still there…

In fact, six of the top ten biggest-selling notebooks on Amazon US are made by Apple, with MacBook Neo in first place, the latest M5 MacBook Air taking second position and the amazing 15-inch M5 MacBook Pro in third position. (Affiliate link to Amazon’s top laptop listings).

Apple really is on fire, I think – particularly as all the biggest-selling PCs on the list cost no more than $250. These results really seem to show Apple now holds the mid- and premium-range notebook markets, with the only other things selling in quantity being low powered, low-cost Chromebooks.

Big in the UK

It’s similar in the UK (affiliate link), where the MacBook Neo is the best-selling laptop, with the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air in third place and 13-inch M5 MacBook Air in sixth position. The rest of the top ten is occupied by PCs from acer, HP, Dell, ASUS, and Lenovo.

Battered by successive poor governments, economic exposure through Brexit, and complete failure to fix any of the fundamental problems in the state, the UK is clearly a price sensitive market at this point. Though, even in this market the MacBook Neo is stealing the show.

In Japan the product sits in third place, just behind the MacBook Air and a refurbished ultra cheap Fujitsu system.

This is the environment that has led at least one analyst to predict Apple may emerge as the only laptop vendor to see any significant growth across 2026. As the story unfolds, I’m minded to suspect the same thing.
