Apple Discontinues Mac Pro, Confirms No Future Model

Apple has ended the Mac Pro. The company has removed the device from its official website and confirmed that it does not plan to release a new model in this lineup, bringing one of its most well-known professional product lines to an end. This decision comes after years in which the Mac Pro had been losing importance within the Mac range, especially since the transition to Apple Silicon.
The latest Mac Pro kept the same design introduced in 2019, when it still used Intel processors. Apple updated it in June 2023 with the M2 Ultra chip, but it was not refreshed again after that. Meanwhile, newer chips were introduced in other desktop models, leaving the Mac Pro in a difficult position, especially considering its starting price of 5,999 dollars.
Mac Pro Discontinued
The removal of the Mac Pro strengthens the idea that the Mac Studio is now Apple’s main high-end desktop. This system can be configured with the M3 Ultra chip, up to 32 CPU cores, 80 GPU cores, 256 GB of unified memory, and up to 16 TB of SSD storage, covering much of what the Mac Pro previously offered.
With the Mac Pro gone, Apple’s desktop lineup is now reduced to three models: the 24-inch iMac, the Mac mini, and the Mac Studio. On the laptop side, the lineup includes the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. This structure shows that Apple is simplifying its range and focusing its professional desktop offering on a more compact and modern system.
This move also fits with other recent changes. Earlier this month, the Pro Display XDR was removed, and last year macOS Tahoe 26.2 added low-latency support for RDMA over Thunderbolt 5. This feature allows multiple Macs to be connected together to scale performance, which some saw as a sign that Apple was looking for different ways to serve high-end users.
