Forensic examinations have revealed critical details in the death of a 27-year-old man found Sunday in a stream in Nea Peramos, west of Athens.
The victim was kidnapped on January 26 while walking in Elefsina and held captive for five to six days, according to investigators, who said food found in his system indicates he was fed during his captivity.
Medical examiners reported he had been shot 10 times from behind. Nine bullets struck his left back, including two in the heart, while a final shot to the head is believed to have been fatal.
The death likely occurred late Saturday or early Sunday. His body also showed signs of a concussion and bruising to the lips and brow.
Authorities are exploring a “tiger kidnapping” scenario, in which the victim may have been executed after recognizing his captors. No ransom calls were made.
Through lawyers, the victim’s mother called for privacy and respect, urging the public and media to avoid sharing images, speculation, or unverified information and to report any credible tips directly to authorities.
