It&#8217;s for those Dreamcast keyboard and mouse drivers seeing unexpected fixes in 2026.\n<\/p>\n<p>Linux input subsystem maintainer Dmitry Torokhov landed a number of fixes for the Dreamcast&#8217;s keyboard, mouse, and joystick driver code to properly handle setting driver data and device registration in order to avoid some race conditions within the Linux kernel. Florian Fuchs kicked off the recent Dreamcast push after fixing a kernel crash within the SEGA Dreamcast &#8220;Maple&#8221; mouse driver code.<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phoronix.net\/image.php?id=2026&#038;image=dreamcast_sega\" alt=\"SEGA Dreamcast game console\"\/><\/p>\n<p>That possible crash in the kernel due to a null pointer dereference in the maplemouse driver code has existed since 2017 for this late 1990s game console.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year the Linux kernel also saw fixes for the GD-ROM driver used by the Dreamcast. Also earlier in the year was a proposal for the VMUFAT file-system driver for a small amount of specially formatted flash memory used by the Dreamcast&#8217;s Visual Memory Unit.
