credit monitoring and identity protection for parents whose sensitive information was circulated by mistake last week.<\/p>\n<p>The school board says the service will be provided for free for three years to all those affected by the privacy breach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(The service) will notify you of any unusual activity related to your credit,\u201d the school board wrote to parents in an email, Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Last Thursday, Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board sent an email to parents of children attending a Rosemere High School a document containing names, birth dates, social insurance numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, country of birth, emergency telephone numbers and contacts.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the school board sent a text message asking parents not to open the email and delete it.<\/p>\n<p>The incident raised concerns about the school board\u2019s cybersecurity practices.<\/p>\n<p>James Di Sano, chairperson of the school board, said the breach would be reported the Commission d\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019information du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Monday, Di Sano added that, \u201cThe Council of Commissioners takes the July 2 privacy incident at Rosemere High School very seriously and has been receiving regular updates on the measures being implemented to support affected individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parents who received the sensitive information were also asked to sign a from confirming that they have deleted the email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese confirmations remain an important part of our mitigation efforts and help us verify that the information has been deleted and not shared further,\u201d Di Sano said.<\/p>\n<p>The school board also recommended affected parents to place a free credit lock on their credit file
