If that sounds familiar, you might have snapped up a second-hand iPhone in a bid to get ahead of the game \u2014 but that could leave you falling foul of an annoying, unforeseen consequence.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what happened to Reddit user, who said that their new iPhone was forcing them to verify their age, despite the fact that they live in Bulgaria, an EU country where age verification is not required by law.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-a8654360-d57c-4dbc-b96b-05fcb0520e0d-2\">Understandably, they were reluctant to upload their ID documents, describing the process as a \u201chuge privacy black hole.\u201d But due to their refusal to do so, they were unable to access \u201ccertain types of content, social apps, GTA games and other things I paid for.\u201d As they put it, \u201cContent and privacy restrictions, scanning my chats, FaceTime calls and photos in gallery are forced upon me without my will and consent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"inline-flex items-center gap-1.5 text-sm font-article-heading capitalize leading-5 text-white whitespace-nowrap\"><span class=\"jwp-carousel-title-mobile\"\/><span class=\"jwp-carousel-title-desktop\">Latest Videos From<\/span><span class=\"jwp-carousel-brand inline-flex items-center\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/media\/img\/techradar_logo_v2.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"max-h-12 w-auto\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The case seems to be a confusing one, as Bulgarian users are not subject to ID verification laws that mandate them to confirm their age before accessing certain apps and services.
